Oliver Library Management System

Our school library uses the Oliver library management system implemented across NSW government schools. This system allows students to access the library catalogue for any internet connected device via the student portal.

Premier's Reading Challenge

Our junior students are encouraged each year to participate in the Premier's Reading Challenge.

This challenge is aimed at encouraging students 'to read, to read more, to read more widely'.

Years 7, 8 and 9 are eligible to participate each year.

To support our students, time in dedicated in Year 7 library lessons to setting students up for the challenge as well as allowing time to read. Throughout the challenge all students are offered rewards for logging their books.

To further assist students in completing the challenge all the books in our collection that are on the PRC lists are labeled on the spine for easy identification, and labels have also been added to the inside cover with the PRC book number to allow students to very easily record their chosen books.

The Challenge runs from March through to August each year. Students are also eligible to record books read after the closure date and add them to their challenge for the following year.

Students can also use Oliver to identify books that are included in the PRC.

Library Ninjas

Each year students have the opportunity to apply to be a library ninja (library assistant). Successful students are expected to demonstrate all aspects of the WHS STAR qualities at all times.
